Because I know that some of my readers are either already a mom, mom-to-be, or will be in one of those 2 groups soon- I thought I would post about some items that have made life with a baby easy and enjoyable. I have not been paid to review these products and these are my own opinions.
Boppy pillow- I can not say enough good things about my boppy. These are great for both mom and baby. It can be used during nursing, bottle feeding, tummy time and learning how to sit up. K likes to use it now to lean back on and "read" her books. I could notice a difference in both my back and shoulders when I nursed with it and without it. It definitely did the job of taking some stress off an already achy, fatigued body area.
Miracle Swaddling Blanket- Oh. My. Goodness! This blanket is the best thing that was ever invented. I started out using another brand of swaddling blanket and did not have good results. My pediatrician mentioned that this blanket at K's 2 week appointment and I immediately purchased it. Her sleep habits changed drastically when we started to use it. She slept longer and more peaceful when swaddled with this blanket and as a working mom, those longer stretches at night were pure heaven. She eventually weaned herself from it around 5 months. I have bought a couple of these as baby shower gifts and believe they are worth every penny.
Baby Einstein Lullaby CD- Since day one 2 things have remained constant when K goes to bed at night- the sound machine playing the sound of waves and her Baby Mozart CD. I hit play after we have read our book, sang our song and said our prayers every night. The CD plays softly- and it may be mind over matter- but the music seems to have a calming affect on her. We also have some other Baby Einstein CDs that we listen to sometimes during the day and in the car, but her favorite is the lullabies at night.
A&D Ointment- I started out using different "white" types of diaper cream with zinc oxide in them. It became apparent to me very fast though that once K got a diaper rash, these types made her worse instead of better. I started reading up on the problem and found my suspicion to be true. My mom suggested A&D ointment to me so I decided to give it a try- K's diaper rash looked much better over night and was completely gone 24 hours later. I like that this product can be used for other things too- like chapped cheeks and other skin irritations.
I Love You All the Time and Good Night Moon are 2 of K's favorite books. These are the ones we read every night- sometimes both and sometimes just one. I really like both book and how they are quick reads. I Love You All the Time has great illustrations too!
Pooh Security Blanket- This is K's little lovey that she likes to sleep with, play peek-a-boo with and carry with her at home and sometimes in the car. I kept saying that I would buy more than one and put it in the closet in case we ever needed a replacement, but waited too late. They no longer sell it at wal-mart. I highly recommend purchasing some small item for a child to use as comfort at night and during scary times- like shots at the dr. K's "Pooh Head" and come to the rescue many times.
Glow Worm- I had a Glow Worm as a kid and when I saw one at Target I decided that K needed one too! This one is very cute and plays lullabies at the flip of a little switch on the back. We keep her on the light- only mode and will push it when we leave the room at night. It stays on for a minute or so and provides a small amount of light to remind her that things are ok even though mommy and daddy have said good night.
Duck Faucet Cover- I am not sure if this is really one of K's favorites or mine, but I love this cute little duck. I like that it opens at the top to dispense bubble bath into the water. The only down side is that because it is so cute- K now likes to stand up in the bath tub and open and close the top! oops!
So what products do you have that make things easier? I would love to hear about them! Hope everyone is having a great day!
